Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023: what to expect
Samsung has already given us a glimpse of what to expect from the Galaxy Unpacked event. The tagline for the event is “Join the flip side” along with an image of its next-generation Galaxy Z Flip. This clearly indicates that we’re going to see the Galaxy Z Flip 5 debut at this event.
There’s also a dedicated events page for the Galaxy Unpacked where Samsung has dropped more hints. A total of at least four devices will be unveiled at the event, and this includes the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Rumours also suggest we could see a new pair of Galaxy Buds.
The Galaxy Tab S9 series is expected to feature up to three models — Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra. In the smartwatch lineup, there are two models expected — Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy Buds 3 at the event.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5: what we know so far
All eyes are going to be on Samsung’s next-gen foldables — Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. As the names suggest, these will be the fifth-generation foldables from the South Korean giant. Both phones are expected to carry the same design language with the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s clamshell-folding design, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s book-folding design.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is rumoured to feature a large cover display that could be 3.4 inches in size. Inside, it could be a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The foldable is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and launch with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There isn’t much known about its cameras but it could be dual 12MP rear cameras on the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, on the other hand, is speculated to feature a 7.6-inch 120Hz internal display and a 6.2-inch 120Hz outer display. Its triple camera setup could be a combination of 108MP + 12MP + 10MP sensors. The foldable is also expected to house a 10MP front camera for selfies.
