Xiaomi is launching a couple of new Redmi smartphones in India today. The Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G are both releasing in the country with similar designs and hardware. The only major difference between the two phones is the chipset, with the 5G model being powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. The Redmi 12 series India launch event is scheduled to start at 12 noon today. The event will be livestreamed through Xiaomi’s YouTube and Twitter pages. Redmi 12 series: what to expect
Xiaomi has so far revealed key specs of the Redmi 12 5G that give us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming phone. Here’s a look at what we know so far about the Redmi 12 5G.
- In terms of design, the Redmi 12 5G features a flat frame and a premium glass back panel. The phone will come in a ‘Moonstone Silver’ colour with rainbow hues. The smartphone is expected to launch in more colour options.
- Xiaomi says the Redmi 12 5G will feature the biggest display on a Redmi phone yet, which is expected to be at around 6.79 inches.
- The smartphone will feature a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor. It will also come with film filters, a feature aimed at influencers.
- Redmi 12 5G is also confirmed to pack 8GB of RAM paired with 8GB of virtual RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage.
- The smartphone will also house a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support.
- The 4G version of the Redmi 12 will feature the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset.
Redmi Watch 3 Active and Xiaomi TV X series details
Joining the Redmi 12 will be the Redmi Watch 3 Active and the Xiaomi TV X series. The Redmi Watch 3 Active has already made its global debut and the same model is expected to launch in India as well. It has an LCD display, 12-day battery life, Bluetooth 5.3, SpO2 monitor, all-day heart rate and sleep monitoring. As for the Xiaomi TV X series, it’s confirmed to feature a premium bezel-less metal design, powered by Google TV, and a 4K Dolby Vision display.
