The Pixel 8 Pro like other Google flagships is known for its camera prowess but turns out it’s also got the best display, according to DXOMARK. Even the Pixel 8 has bagged the top score for the best display on a smartphone. Both phones also rank first in the premium and ultra-premium categories.
Google Pixel 8 Pro DXOMARK results
In terms of specs, the Pixel 8 Pro features a 6.7-inch OLED display (1344 x 2992 resolution) with a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Glass Victus 2 protection, and 2,400 nits peak brightness. The Pixel 8 Pro scored 162 for readability, and according to DXOMARK, it’s the most readable product so far, especially in outdoors and direct sunlight. It also scored 164 in colour by maintaining correct skin tones in different lighting conditions, and a pleasant and vivid rendering of photos.
While the Pixel 8 Pro offers impressive HDR10 playback, it isn’t the best if you’re watching dark content in low light. The smartphone’s display is also smooth overall but there were some slight frame mismatches, and it lost some smoothness while playing games. You can find the detailed results here.
Google Pixel 8 DXOMARK results
The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and 2,000 nits peak brightness. Like the Pro version, this one too has great readability outdoors and in direct sunlight. DXOMARK says that the Pixel 8 is slightly less bright than the iPhone 15 while viewing photos, but brighter for viewing web pages.
Colour reproduction is also good on the Pixel 8 especially with skin tone rendering. But it did show a ‘slight pink cast’ outdoors when a strong light source would come from the upper angle side. For videos, the Pixel 8 Pro’s brightness level was ‘very good’ even in a dark viewing environment. Like the Pixel 8 Pro, the vanilla Pixel 8 also showed overall smoothness but lacked when it came to playing games. The Pixel 8’s display results are available here.
