OnePlus launched its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship phone, the OnePlus 12, in its home country, China. The company has only shared a cryptic “Landing in early 2024” timeline for the device’s global launch as of now. However, an official from the OnePlus European team now seems to have confirmed the exact day for the global event and here it is.
OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R launch date (expected)
Dutch publication HardwareInfo reported on Friday that OnePlus had held a community meet in Antwerp, Belgium. In this event, a company official supposedly confirmed that the OnePlus 12 will launch globally and in Europe on January 23rd, 2024. The device will also be accompanied by OnePlus 12R.
However, the report has now been taken down, indicating that the website could have made the information public a little earlier than it should have. Tipster Max Jambor and OnePlus’ T&C page for the launch event did indicate the same date last month. The device is expected to make its global debut in an event which will be held in India.
OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus Open earlier this year in October through a launch event in Mumbai. The upcoming OnePlus 12 is expected to feature the same specifications as its Chinese variant.
It comes with multiple new additions such as a periscope camera, wireless charging, improved water resistance, and better haptics. The OnePlus 12 price in China starts from CNY 4,299 (Rs 50,600 approx). This is the first time OnePlus has added wireless charging on the flagship lineup, with 50W support.
The OnePlus 12R on the other hand will be a more affordable variant featuring Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and will be unveiled in China as the OnePlus Ace 3.
