OnePlus India has announced the upcoming OnePlus 12R display technology and battery size ahead of the phone’s launch on January 23rd. The company posted on X that the phone will carry the biggest battery ever on a OnePlus phone. To aid the battery life, the LTPO 4.0 screen technology is also present. Let’s see how.

OnePlus 12R has an LTPO 4.0 display that is said to be smoother in terms of fast refresh rate. It can cover a broader range of refresh rates than LTPO 3.0. So, for instance, the display could switch between 120Hz, 90Hz, and 75Hz seamlessly.

As you may know, this switching between refresh rates depending on what’s on-screen helps in conserving battery life. So, the OnePlus 12R’s LTPO 4.0 panel should be a meaningful update from a power efficiency standpoint. 

What raises our expectations is the freshly-revealed 5,500mAh battery inside the phone. OnePlus punctuates this being the biggest ever battery on one of its phones. For comparison, the 11R only had a 5,000mAh cell.

OnePlus 12R specifications (expected)

• Display: The OnePlus 12R could sport a 6.78-inch LTPO 4.0 AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
• Charging: Its 5,500mAh battery could be charged by a 100W wired adapter. 
• Processor: Inside, you could get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
• Memory: We have recently learned that the phone could come in an 8GB RAM + 128GB model and a 16GB RAM + 256GB variant. 
• Software: The phone could boot Android 14-based OxygenOS 14.
• Cameras: On the back of the handset, there could be a 50MP+8MP+2MP triplet. On the front, you could get a 16MP selfie shooter.
• Connectivity: The 12R could also feature 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a USB-C socket, GPS and NFC.
• Colours: You could get to buy the phone in Iron Grey and Cool Blue colours.
